Giants Turn Season Around

(Oct. 28)-After starting the season 0-2 and having a defense that looked morelike a high school football team than a professional defense, the New York Giants have turned around both their season and their defense, so far. In the first two games of the season the G-men gave up a combined 80 points to the Dallas Cowboys and Greenbay Packers. After trailing at the half to Washington Redskins, the Giants have dominated their opponents in route to a five winning streak with 0-6 Miami Dolphins next up on their schedule in London, England.

But what has every Giants fan pondering is what happened and how did the team all of a sudden come together and become dominant in the NFC. Well in my opinion it all starts with the secondary and the coverage that at one point was so pour, but now is allowing the defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo to blitz on the regular and put enormous pressure on the quaterback. Also Michael Strahan is healthy and Osi
Umenyiora is having a pro bowl type season at defensive end. The defense is on pace to have more than 60 sacks on the season.

Another reason that I believe the Giants are turning things around is because Eli Manning is playing like the first overall pick that everyone expected he should be. He and Plaxico Burress are working so well together that opposing defensives can't stop. With Brandon Jacobs and Derrick Ward acting as a well as a one, two punch in the league, the Giants are working so well on both sides of the ball.

After the playing the horrible Miami Dolphins in England, the Giants should go into the bye week 6-2. Then with Dallas coming to the Meadowlands, the Giants most likely will be playing with first place on
the line and that game should be the telling game so far of the season.

The hardest part of season for the Giants in the second half in my opinion is when the Giants play back to back on the road against Chicago and Philadelphia. If the Giants can somehow manage to split
those two games and then beat Washington at home, they will have a strong chance to win the division and make the playoffs.

After the Giants bye and with eight games remaining in the season, the Giants will need to go at least 4-4 to make the playoffs, but I think if they can manage to go 5-3 or better than the division is over and they will make the playoffs.
