Halloween is slowly approaching as most department stores are flooding their aisles with costumes and decorations. There are numerous other activities that evolve from this fun holiday, from dressing up extravagantly to sitting on the couch anticipating the arrival of the trick-or-treaters.
- One of the most popular events every year is Six Flags Great Adventures Fright Fest, located in Jackson, New Jersey. The amusement park is decorated with spider webs and costumed ghouls. - The producers of Masque invite all vampires to attend the annual Endless Night Festival being held on Halloween night on 225 Houston St. in NYC. Gates open at 10 pm.
- Playland's "Scared by the Sound" Haunted House began Oct. 12 in Rye, with the times varying. There's also Hardly Haunted Matinee for children 8 years and under.
- Nightmare: Ghost Stories is considered one of New York's most horrifying haunted houses. This haunted experience is predicted to sell out because of its tremendous turnout of people every year. It's located at CSV Cultural Center 107 Suffolk St. in Rivington. Ticket prices vary from $25 to $50 depending on how much you are willing to do.
- "I believe we have the best of the best from years past. They are ready to scare the bile out of you, and I know they can" is written the blog of Timothy Haskell, who is the creator of the event.
- For the partiers who enjoy dressing up in their costumes Joonbug presents the sixth annual Halloween Masquerade Ball at Capitale 228 Grand St on Oct 31, from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. Costumes are mandatory.
- For the family and children, there is "Boo at the Zoo" which is held at the Bronx Zoo and is filled with activities. There are magic shows, spooky stories, music, a costume parade, storytelling, hayrides and plenty of giveaways. It's being held Oct. 20-21 and 27-28.
- For the less traditional, but thrill lovers, Lionsgate Productions presents the fourth sequel of Saw, which has been their most successful trilogy. Saw III opened with a 34.3 million debut last October. Halloween wouldn't be complete without a visit from Jigsaw.
