Internet Phenoms Can Do No Wrong

At first glance, or to those who just don't care about the lives of famous people, looking at the site almost makes you stop and say, "…That's it?"
It's a bright pink background underneath paparazzi photos marked up in Microsoft Paint with comments about the celebrities by Hilton (which run the gamut from clever and witty to rude and nasty).
Mercy College freshman Paula Bagatta visits the site every day and can even pull the blog up on her cell phone. "I like when he bashes celebrities, and how he always edits the pictures," she said.
Freshman Rachel Miller agreed. "I think he's funny," she said.
Recently, Hilton was given a six-episode order for his own television show on VH1 called "What Perez Sez." The first installment aired on Sept. 11, and according to the Futon Critic (http://www.thefutoncritic.com), the show is "not on the schedule" and its status is listed as "on hiatus or fate to be determined."
Hilton is not the only Internet phenomenon to get a television deal recently.
Britney Spears super-fan Chris Crocker has reportedly inked a deal to star in his own reality show after becoming a YouTube celebrity.
Crocker, a 19-year-old boy with a bleached blonde bob and heavily applied eyeliner, had posted plenty of videos to his YouTube account ("itschriscrocker") before his Sept. 10 video.
His reaction to Spears' 2007 MTV Video Music Awards performance, however, got him noticed.
"Leave Britney alone!" he wailed. (Word is that Spears would actually appreciate it if Crocker took his own advice.)
"Anyone who has a problem with her, you deal with me, because she's not well right now!" (Though Crocker obviously plays fast and loose with the definition of the word "well" himself.)
It's two minutes and 11 seconds of pure crazy, and, to date, has over 11 million views.
"I laugh every time I see a video of him," Bagatta said.
So do a lot of people - including those at 44 Blue Productions, who signed Crocker after seeing his previous videos and the one that made him a name.

Internet Phemons should be about people who use the internet to get discovered ie: Obama Girl, not celebs whoring themselves out on gossip sites.
