April 22 - As another semester is coming to an end at Mercy College students are hoping that the issue of being able to get food past nine o'clock is no longer a problem. Recently at a dorm meeting students complained about the selection of food and how the café shuts down so early. There are many students who have to travel to the other Mercy campuses such as White Plans, Bronx, Yorktown and Manhattan to take classes but they never make it back in time to get a burger. Several Students stated that they study many hours during the day and can not make the café by the time it closes at nine.
Also, many stated that their there scared sometimes that they won't get something to eat and have to go to sleep hungry at night, which is not fair. They talked about how other college and universities have places where students have access to get food all hours of the night with out any problems. In addition, Mercy students ask that if it was possible maybe the café could extend its hours or the possibility of adding a late night to Mercy. Which could be open so that when student get hungry during the late night while their studying which is not a bad idea and could bring more satisfaction to the students. A late night opening could mean that students could also have something else to do and another place to socialize at which Mercy does not have too many place students can hangout and shoot the breeze.
Freshmen Computer Major Eno Udo stated, "Be able to get food late night would be perfect. I mean, we got all this money on these card and you can't keep the left over money so why not have late night dining so we waste the money. Also I get a craving many times for curly fries and Grilled chicken after playing computer games or studying so this would suite me perfect."
Senior John Levai said "If they had a late night then more people would take advantage if it. The prices would be reasonable people would pay there money it won't be like a immediate success but it would go into the improving the services and that would benefit mercy and its student really well."
In conclusion, hopefully in the future Mercy will have a late night in the café so that students have access to food during the late night hours. Students feel this kind of change were to happen at Mercy, students would not have to complain or feel like their being rushed to make the café by nine because they would have late night so in the end everyone would be satisfied.
