For men, it is a day to dread. It is a day when, God forbid, they have to put aside their football games and Playboy magazines to be the romantic heroes.
For women, it is the test of truth. Are the guys they are dating a knight in shining armor, or are they the worthless cads their friends keep warning them about.
Chances are, half of you men out there screwed up royally this holiday. If you got her an appliance such as an iron, toaster, waffle iron, etc, you are in the dog house. Please be honest and admit you got her those things so she can iron your clothes and cook something up for you. It was definitely not the romantic ideal.
If you decided to make Valentine's Day a group activity with your friends and their girlfriends, once again, expect her not to talk to you. Full attention to your partner is essential for this day.
Lastly, if any one of you male readers got your girl flowers and candy, how is that different from any other day?
If your girlfriend isn't receiving those minimal surprises on the regular, she is definitely getting the fuzzy end of the lollipop. You are lucky to be getting the silent treatment and not your tires slashed.
For all those guys who were creative this past holiday, you should be applauded. More certain than not, you got in touch with your romantic side.
If you suddenly find yourself sleeping on the couch and getting the silent treatment from her, take the following suggestions on how to fix the situation.
First, cards are only OK if you either write something special inside or you make them yourself. A love poem would be perfect to slide into one.
Knowing that not everyone is William Shakespeare, the website lovepoemsandquotes.com can help you guys out.
As far as gifts go, a general rule of thumb is not to get anything for her that she can plug in. A guy can never go wrong with jewelry.
As horrendous as this sounds, a shopper can actually get a decent looking silver sterling necklace at Kmart. The one on 33rd and 7th always has a good sale going on.
A girl will feel flattered if a guy cares enough about her to embarrass himself for her. Singing her favorite love song at a karaoke bar will surely win her heart back.
