The unlimited benefits of tea have increased demand all over the world.
Because of its powerful natural antioxidants, tea has become more and more popular especially in American society, although coffee is still the most highly consumed drink.
The antioxidants in tea leaves are called flavinoids which help tea drinkers keep free radicals in balance. In addition tea is refreshing and it is part of a healthy lifestyle.
The popularity of Asian culture seems to be increasing these days, with the culture's distinct emphasis on meditation and yoga. Tea supports these persuasions and lifestyles.

All these societal benefits explain the increased demand for tea. Even coffee shops like Starbucks or Gloria Jeans have added tea or exotic teas like Tao Chai, Japanese Green Tea, etc. to their specialized menu.

In addition, fine hotels throughout the United States are re-establishing or planning for the first time to serve afternoon tea.
The growing knowledge of the health benefits of tea is responsible for the consumer wanting to try a variety of teas. Each type of tea has different benefits to the body and the soul. It is no surprise that the shelves in supermarkets are full of different kinds of Ceylon teas, Indian teas, and of course Herbal teas.

It's the 50mg. of caffeine in each cup of tea that gives the
drinker that uplift or stimulus. The amount of caffeine in a cup of tea is about the same as in a bar of chocolate and is about half the amount found in the cup of coffee.
Over 5,000 years ago, Shen Nung, a Chinese Emperor and scientist, believed that all water for drinking should be boiled as a hygienic precaution. One day when his servants were boiling water for Nung, dried leaves from the near bush fell into the boiling water and a brown liquid was infused into the water. Nung, as a scientist, became very interested in this brown liquid and had a slip of it. He found the water with dry leaves very refreshing, and that brown water today is known as tea, which has become an integral part of everyone's life.
