A large stack of old, rare books lay on the floor and in the closet of an upstairs office at the Mercy College Library in Dobbs Ferry. W. There isn't much anyone can do for Dorothy Balancio now.
Since 1994 she's been living in the murky emotional state of raw, continuous pain. Holidays, birthdays-these happy occasions are always tainted for her. "There's just an empty space," she said. "We're all sitting there asking, 'Where's Louis?'"
Since 1973, when Louis Balancio was only five and a half weeks old, he and his proud mother traveled the halls of Mercy College together.

Satisfied and progress are just two words in which Coach Darryl Bullock described in his overall assessment of his cross country team, saying, "On balance I am satisfied with the progress we made as individuals and as a team."

On March 13, members of the Mercy College community were informed that the General Education Revision Committee has eliminated the Foreign Language requirement from its newly proposed Liberal Arts core requirements.

An arrest was made of a sexual predator that was accused of assaulting a Mercy College female student in the Croton Aqueduct on Sept. 10, according to the Dobbs Ferry Police Department.

If you can recognize this acronym, then chances are you are one of the few who attended the Club Membership Drive at the Dobbs Ferry campus on Nov 22.
The Lions Club's used the acronym "YCJCYOD" to entice students to donate money to the victims of Hurricane Katrina only to find, to their surprise that "YCJCYOD" stood for "Your Curiosity Just Cost You One Dollar.
Mercy Holds Vigil to Honor Fallen Students

On Monday, April 16, 2007, 33 young men and women were brutally shot by a fellow student on their schools' campus.
It is the deadliest shooting in modern U.S history.
On Tuesday, April 17, 2007, Mercy College held a vigil in honor of the victims of the Virginia Tech tragedy at the Dobbs Ferry and Bronx campuses.

The Mercy College community lost a former colleague and friend when Mary Pat Wagner was found dead after having been reported missing last weekend in New Jersey.
Wagner was listed as a missing person after not returning to her home Sunday night, April 15, in the midst of a nor'easter that left much of the area under water.

Two years straight, the men's soccer team faced Dowling College in beyond meaningful games.
Last season, Mercy won the New York Athletic Conference (NYCAC) Tournament, crowning them as the league champions as the four best teams from the regular season battled for the championship, with Mercy defeating Dowling College in the finals.

Financial Aid has long been a topic of controversy at Mercy College. Several students have often reached out to The Impact to express that they cannot register for classes because they have yet to receive their money from Financial Aid, or that they are just displeased with the process in general.

The women's basketball team seems to have gotten off to the same start as they did last season, posting a 0-3 record. Last season however, that 0-3 record ballooned into a 0-25 record as time and games went on.

Mercy College's annual career fair, held April 11 in Main Hall at the Dobbs Ferry campus, featured over 80 companies educating students in career opportunities. Mercy College began holding career fairs in 1991, and this year over 110 companies were registered to attend.
